BYC 849B is a desirable 1964 Austin Helaey 3000 MkIII BJ8 Phase II built between 12-14th August at Austin’s Abingdon factory and despatched for delivery to California on the 8th September. The car has been in long term UK ownership of over 33 years.
Finished in Healey Blue Metallic with Ivory Duotone this stunning car is well complemented by a matching Navy interior with colour matched Healey Blue piping to the seats. The car wears menacing deep dished chrome wire wheels with new Blockley 165 tyres.
In 1989 the car was restored with a bare metal respray to the exterior, doors, boot, bonnet and shut panels, a new hand trimmed leather interior, new hood and right-hand drive conversion including an upgrade to a rack and pinion setup over the original worm and peg box.
In 2009 the engine was stripped down and fully rebuilt with a rebore, crank regrind, unleaded conversion and upgraded to fast road specification with Denis Welch components. The gearbox and overdrive were rebuilt some years prior to this.In 2021 we have fitted new tyres, undertake a major brake overhaul, service and added Ivory Duotone to the side of the car. New Navy carpet was also fitted in this year.
