Ordering from A H Spares and shipping internationally? Here’s what you need to know so your order doesn’t get held up at the border.

What Overseas Customers Should Know

When you order parts from the UK to be shipped to your country, your local customs authority may apply import duties, sales tax/VAT, and handling fees upon arrival.

To ensure a smooth delivery, we recommend the following:

  • Check your country’s import thresholds
Each country has different rules about when taxes or duties apply. Check with your national customs authority or official government website to find current thresholds and tax rates.
  • Keep your invoice and shipping documents
These will be needed for customs clearance. We always include a commercial invoice with your order, but keep a copy for your records.
  • Respond promptly to customs notifications
If your local courier or customs authority contacts you for payment or verification, respond quickly to avoid delays or returns.
  • Budget for possible extra costs
Duties and VAT are set by your country—not A H Spares—and may be payable before your order is delivered.

Import Duty Disclaimer

Please note: Import duties, taxes, and customs charges are set by your local government and are the responsibility of the recipient. These fees are not included in your order total and must be paid before delivery.

A H Spares Ltd cannot accept responsibility for any such charges incurred.

If an order is returned to us due to non-payment of duties or taxes:

  • The original delivery charge will not be refunded
  • Additional return shipping or handling fees may be deducted from your refund

We strongly recommend checking with your local customs office before placing your order, so you’re fully informed of any potential charges.

Returns & Customs Documentation

We understand that sometimes a part might not be right for your project — and we aim to make returns as simple and stress-free as possible. Below you’ll find clear instructions for both UK and international customers.

Import Duty Disclaimer

Our UK returns process is straightforward

Steps to return:

  • Contact us within 14 days of receiving your order to let us know you'd like to return an item.
  • We’ll send you a Customer Returns Form and a pre-printed address label.
  • Repackage the item securely and include both the returns form and a copy of your invoice.

For a full summary of your consumer rights when buying online, visit: Your rights when you buy online or by phone – GOV.UK

Note: Returned items must be in new, unused condition unless faulty. Custom-made items may not be eligible for return unless defective.

Returning Parts from Outside the UK

If you're returning a part from overseas, additional steps are needed to comply with UK customs:

Steps to return:

  1. Contact us before returning your order — we’ll provide a Customer Returns Form and a returns label to help with documentation.
  2. Repackage your item securely and include:
    • The returns form
    • A copy of your original invoice
    • Clearly marked customs declaration: "Return Goods – No Commercial Value"
  3. Use a reliable shipping service with tracking. We recommend avoiding express couriers (like DHL/UPS) if they charge high brokerage fees on returns.

Failure to include the correct documentation may result in:

  • Delays at UK customs
  • Import VAT/duties being charged to A H Spares
  • Deductions from your refund to cover these charges

Important Notice on International Returns

If your return incurs import charges or customs fees upon re-entry into the UK, we reserve the right to:

  • Deduct these costs from your refund, and/or
  • Exclude your original delivery charge from the refunded amount

A H Spares cannot be held responsible for any fees arising from improper documentation or courier charges.
