Austin Healey 3000 MK3 BJ8 | Greece
Here are the identification numbers,
- Car/chassis number: H-BJ8-L/33909
- Engine number: 29K-FARU-H/298
- Body number: 3212BJ8/78743.
According to the Piraeus Customs Certificate, the car (of French specifications – letter F on engine number and as per Record Trace Certificate) was auctioned in Greece by the Hellenic Army Pension Fund and was customs cleared in Greece on January 9, 1973.
Vehicle Registration Document nr. 533312 from the Z’ Piraeus Customs was issued on June 6, 1975, basis the car body number.
Car remained without a license plate number till January 26, 2001, when my brother Spiro bought it. After having bought it, he paid duties and issued a proper Greek Registration document in his name as well as a Greek license plate. Before buying it, I arranged for the Record Trace Certificate 2000/6251 (British Motor Industry Heritage Trust) to be issued in my name, so that we know what we were about to buy.
Car matches all the Certificate numbers so it is a “matching numbers” car as they say in the car jargon, but does not match colour, which according to the Certificate was British Racing Green, while the car was actually red. I resprayed the car in Colorado Red over Ivory, i.e. as it appears on the photos and as is today.
Car featured black ambla upholstery, while now is featuring black leather seats instead of ambla. Two-piece rear shelf and rear side panels were original and were kept so, as they are having a nice patina. So if one wishes, basis these 4 panels, could easily bring the car back to the original ambla upholstery. He would only need to change the 4 leather seat covers with ambla ones.
There are several spare parts available, the most important of which are a factory hardtop and a NOS engine cover. On top of the 5 slightly used Dunlop RS5 tires that the car is equipped with, there is also a 6th unused one available.
Sale price is Euro 65K, way below expenses incurred to buy, restore and keep it in its nice present condition. Reason for sale is that I have been involved heavily with another English car make (Jaguar/Daimler) and I have decided to dedicate myself into this one only. So unfortunately the Healey has to go, as there are too many cars in my shed now.

Healey MK4 3500 Prototype | Gloucestershire, UK
Additional Details: Healey MK4 3500 Prototype Built with the approval of Donald Healey and the collaboration of Geoffrey Healey, this car was the prototype for the successor to the Austin Healey 3000 MK3.
Designated the MK4 3500 and bearing chassis No.1, it was first registered in 1989; this was the car used for the launch of the new Healey and all of the subsequent press coverage, TV, newspapers and magazines all used this car, copies of which will be included in the sale, with the original Healey brochure in which it features.
The MK4 was a vast improvement on the MK3 having all independent suspension, 3.5ltr, fuel injected, all-alloy V8 giving 194bhp and 220 lbs/ft of torque, a 5 speed gearbox, disc brakes all around, centre lock wheels, stainless steel exhaust, a good heating and demist system, good audio system, electric heated mirrors, walnut dashboard with full instrumentation and an all leather luxury interior, this is also a 2 + 2.
There is also a surprisingly spacious luggage compartment. Performance was also enhanced with 0-60mph in 5.9 secs, a top speed of 140 mph. Brakes to match and excellent handling.
As the ownership of the Healey trademark was disputed by Jensen Cars and this wasn’t resolved for several years, Healey Motor Company continued trading as HMC Sportscars even though it was resolved in Geoffrey’s favour, this was the only car to be registered as a Healey MK4 and as such is unique.
All subsequent cars were badged as HMCs and these are well respected and highly sought after, which are steadily increasing in value.
This car has recently been fitted with all stainless steel wheels, new tyres, has recently been serviced and will be sold with a new MOT.
F560 UDG was owned by the factory and then by one of the designers co-founders of The Healey Motor Company, Graham Holmes, until bought by the present owner.
It is only offered for sale now due to ill health. Whether you are looking for a useable modern classic which will give you stunning looks, reliability, excellent performance and comfort or just a good solid investment, this is the car for you.

When I bought the car it had already been re-shelled into a Heritage Shell (I think in the 1990s).
I subsequently had the 1275 engine/gearbox rebuilt, fully rewired the car, fitted a Frontline Developments front suspension kit and generally ’tidied everything’.

The vehicle is in perfect mechanical running condition. The gearbox and overdrive was restored recently by a Healey specialist.
The car is totally authentic. The previous owner had the vehicle for 35 Years and it spent all its life in the dry climate of Johannesburg. There is therefore no signs of rust.
The chassis is straight with no signs of repair or accident damage. The car was repainted in its original factory colours a few years ago and the paint is still in good condition.
The driver's door had some repairs done, but not to an acceptable standard.
The weather equipment is complete and in near perfect condition. The upholstery was redone in blue Leather. The condition of the carpets is fair.
