A 1953 Austin Healey 100/4 With A Mille Miglia Story To Tell

Mille Miglia 2026 opening summary

Every so often, a customer story lands with the sort of energy that deserves more than a quick mention. This is one of those moments.

Dr. Tobias Kollmann has shared the news that he and navigator Kilian Kollmann successfully completed the Mille Miglia 2026 in their 1953 Austin Healey 100/4, affectionately named the Racing Queen.

After more than 1,985 kilometres, over 140 time trials, numerous defects and repairs, the Racing Queen reached the finish and took 61st place overall from more than 450 participants. Among the participants from Germany, Tobias and Kilian finished second.

That alone would be worth celebrating. But the story did not stop there.

A Strong Result In A Demanding Event

The Mille Miglia is not the sort of event that gives anything away easily. Across the route, crews face long distances, intense concentration, time trials and, as Dr. Kollmann put it, “numerous defects and repairs”.

That is part of what makes this result so impressive. Completing the event is an achievement in itself. To finish 61st overall in a field of more than 450 participants, while also placing second among the German participants, speaks for the persistence and commitment involved.

For A H Spares, it is always a pleasure to hear from customers who are out using their cars properly, especially when their stories involve such a memorable result. This 1953 Austin Healey 100/4 was not tucked away from the world. It had a job to do, miles to cover and a story to collect along the way.

The unforgettable highlight came through the team performance for the Villa Trasqua Team. With more than 54,000 points, the Racing Queen made a significant contribution to the team classification, helping Villa Trasqua Team achieve 1st place.

That achievement brought with it a particularly special moment. Because of the Racing Queen’s performance for the team, Dr. Kollmann was able to take the trophy home as a souvenir.

It was, in Dr. Kollmann’s words, a “sensational gesture” from the Villa Trasqua Team. The trophy itself also carries a meaningful detail, with the same shape as the originals since 1927.

For anyone who understands the emotion wrapped up in these cars, events and long-distance challenges, it is easy to see why that trophy meant so much. It marked the miles, the repairs, the time trials, the team effort and the final push to the finish.

A Proud Result For The Racing Queen

Dr. Kollmann described the moment as emotional, proud and an honour. That comes through clearly in the message he kindly gave A H Spares permission to share.

From the overall result to the German participant placing, and from the Villa Trasqua Team’s 1st place in the team classification to the trophy coming home, this was a Mille Miglia to remember.
