Sort the small jobs before they become big ones
If the Spring Bank Holiday has you thinking about a proper run out, now is a good time to check the jobs you have been meaning to tackle. Suspension is a sensible place to start. Our recent Spring Into Action suspension springs guide covers how fresh springs can bring back ride height, balance and confidence on the road.
It is also worth looking at the supporting parts while you are there. Worn bushes can undo the benefit of otherwise good suspension work, so our Austin Healey suspension bushes and Polybush guide is a useful read if the car feels vague, tired, or slightly more agricultural than BMC intended.
Of course, it is not always suspension. It might be a missing fixing when fitting a luggage rack, a tired hood or tonneau that has seen one summer too many on your Big Healey or Sprite & Midget, a worn part in your engine cooling setup, or an ageing fuel pump waiting for exactly the wrong moment to make itself known.
Seals, fixings, gaskets, clips. None of them exciting, all of them essential.
Worth a quick look now, rather than a long wait later.
