These rear seat squab fixing brackets are designed to secure the backrest panel of the 2+2 Austin-Healey BN4 and BT7 models. Pressed in steel to the original BMC specification, they ensure the correct fit and angle of the rear seat back, maintaining alignment and safety within the trim assembly.
MADE EXCLUSIVELY BY A H PANELS.
These brackets fit BN4 and BT7 (2+2) Austin-Healey models from 1956–1961. They secure the rear seat backrest to the bulkhead assembly.
Not suitable for BN1–BN2 (two-seater) or BJ7/BJ8 models, which use different bracket profiles.
For later BJ7 models, see UPY346 Rear Seat Squab Fixing Brackets – BJ7.
Brackets you can either weld or bolt to the inner wheel arch area using fasteners:
The brackets engage with the upright edges of the seat backrest. Check seat alignment before final fixing. Test-fit with the untrimmed rear back panel to ensure correct positioning prior to trimming.
Unlike generic reproductions, this pair is manufactured by A H Panels in the UK using original specification jigs. They replicate the correct Healey geometry for seat fitment accuracy and long-term reliability in restorations.
No. BJ7 and BJ8 seat frames differ in backrest width and fixing position. Use UPY346 for BJ7 applications.
No. Brackets are supplied only. Reuse original fasteners or suitable replacements matching the BMC specifications.
They can be spot welded or bolted depending on restoration preference. Factory fitment was welded; restorers may use bolts for removability during trimming.
