Why the Pressing Matters Before the Chrome
A bumper over-rider can be only slightly out of shape and still look noticeably different on close inspection. Chrome follows the steel beneath it, so the flat upper and lower surfaces, centre groove, defined sides and the profile where the over-rider meets the bumper all need to be formed accurately into the pressing.
A H Spares developed dedicated tooling from a CAD model based on measurements from the original design. CNC machining allows the required profile to be reproduced accurately, while original-gauge steel helps retain the strength, substance and low-speed impact protection intended in the original bumper arrangement.
- Original design measurements: used as the basis for the reproduced profile.
- CAD-modelled tooling: developed specifically for these over-riders.
- CNC-machined tooling: used to reproduce the required definition accurately.
- Original-gauge steel: helps reproduce the substantial construction of the original component.
- Defined profile: including the flat top, flat bottom, centre groove, sides and bumper junction.
- Made by A H Panels: using dedicated tooling developed for the component.
