Retro Classics Essen is the new name on the ticket, but the reason for going is reassuringly familiar: five days of classic machinery, useful conversations, and the sort of parts talk that starts with “while I’m in there…” and ends with an order list. From 8 to 12 April 2026, we’ll be at gallery stand E10, ready to talk Austin Healeys, Sprite and Midget projects, restoration headaches, and the jobs that looked small until they involved removing half the car.

Why the show is now called Retro Classics Essen

If you still instinctively call it Techno Classica, you are not behind the times so much as accurately remembering last year. Messe Essen says its cooperation with the organiser of Techno-Classica ended after 2025, and it chose RETRO Messen as its new partner from 2026, launching the first Retro Classics Essen this April. So this is not simply the old event changing its jacket in the cloakroom; it is the Essen show continuing under a new organiser and brand.

For visitors, that means the familiar spring trip to Essen still makes sense, but the badge on the gate has changed. For exhibitors like us, it means a fresh first edition in a venue that classic car people already know well — which is handy, because nobody really wants to spend half the day pretending they enjoy learning a new hall layout.

Why we’re exhibiting

Because shows like this are still one of the best ways to have the conversations that do not fit neatly into an online checkout. You might be comparing trim details, checking a change point, puzzling over a fitment issue, or trying to work out whether your latest discovery is wear, modification, or the work of a previous owner with boundless confidence and limited measuring equipment.

A H Spares not only covers the entire Big Healey range, we also supply Sprite and MG Midget parts. So whether your project is a BN1, a 3000, or something compact and cheerful with a tendency to make you buy “just one more small thing,” you are dealing with people who already understand the cars and the details that matter. The aim is simple: make the parts side of ownership straightforward and dependable, so you can stay in your comfort zone and keep the project moving without unnecessary guesswork. We also have the current digital catalogues online, which makes it easier to continue the conversation after the show without relying on memory or the back of a ticket stub.

What to expect when you find us at stand E10

Expect practical talk. Bring your questions, your photos, your chassis details, and your mildly alarming to-do list. If you already know exactly what you need, excellent. If you have three possible part numbers and a strong suspicion that only one of them is right, that is also a very normal way to arrive.

We’re there for owners who use their cars, restore them carefully, improve them thoughtfully, and occasionally discover that one small seal or bracket has the power to stop an entire weekend’s progress. That is classic motoring in a nutshell: magnificent cars, lovely people, and one tiny component holding the whole programme hostage.

Planning your visit

The official event runs at Messe Essen from Wednesday 8 April to Sunday 12 April 2026. Opening hours are 1pm–8pm on Wednesday, then 10am–6pm from Thursday to Sunday. If you prefer your fairgoing with a little more elbow room, Wednesday has a case for it. If you prefer a fuller atmosphere and more chance encounters, the later days will do the job nicely.

Either way, if you’re attending Retro Classics Essen and you own, restore, drive, or are quietly hoarding parts for an Austin Healey, come and see us in the gallery at stand E10.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I ask about Sprite and Midget parts as well as Big Healey parts?
Yes. A H Spares covers Big Healey, Sprite, and MG Midget parts, so bring whichever project is currently occupying the garage, the drive, or your patience.
Is Retro Classics Essen basically Techno Classica under a new name?
Not exactly. Messe Essen says its cooperation with the Techno-Classica organiser ended after 2025, and the Essen event now continues from 2026 under the Retro Classics banner with RETRO Messen as the new partner.
Is Wednesday worth it?
If you like getting in early and making the most of the longer opening window, yes. Wednesday runs from 1pm to 8pm; Thursday to Sunday are 10am to 6pm.
Should I bring part numbers, photos, or a list?
Yes, all three if you have them. A part number is helpful, a photo is better, and a short list of what you are trying to solve is often best of all.
Should I wait until the show to order parts?
That depends on the urgency of the job. If the car is on stands and the next step depends on it, order now. If you would prefer to talk through the options first, come and see us at the stand. If you cannot make it to Essen, you can also contact our team and we will be happy to help.
Where can I find A H Spares at Retro Classics Essen?
We’ll be in the gallery at stand E10.
