This unique car has been with its third owner for the last four years and has a recorded mileage of just over 11,500 miles since it was built and registered in 2000 as a single type 'X' approval. It won in its concours class at the 2018 Austin Healey Club annual meeting and is in perfect running order. Special number plate letters - AHS - signify Austin Healey Sprite. The car was created using some of the original tooling and moulds used by the 'Isle of Wight Frogeye Company' and is one of two prototypes manufactured by the Healey Sprite Motor Company. The vehicle consists of a reinforced glass fibre body shell finished in Old English White colour on a powder coated steel ladder chassis. The power unit is a Rover 1275cc A series plus engine with twin 1 1/4" SU carburettors fitted with K&N pan type filters. An aluminium radiator with thermostatic controlled electric fan gives exceptional cooling. The power train is linked to the engine with a 5 speed Ford Sierra gearbox which drives the rear wheels through a conventional prop shaft, differential and rear axle arrangement. The suspension arrangement consists of double wishbones to the front with coil springs and adjustable Spax shock absorbers plus anti- roll bar. The rear suspension comprises of coil springs and adjustable Spax shock absorbers with radius arms making for a live back axle. A dual circuit hydraulic system serves brake discs to front and drums to rear. Rear hazard lights and reversing light fitted to the rear for modern day motoring. Numerous upgrade modifications have been made to the vehicle by the current owner to enhance the truly magnificent all year round driving experience.
