This front coil spring is for Austin Healey Sprite MK1, MK2, and early MK3 models up to chassis HAN8[C]60259. It is a replacement spring for the standard front suspension and is intended to restore proper ride height, front-end balance, and suspension movement where the original spring has weakened with age and use.
The early and late Sprite front springs are not the same. This early version has a free length of 9.5" and a spring rate of 271lb, so using the correct spring is important when rebuilding or correcting the front suspension.
Not suitable for Sprite MK3 from HAN8[C]60260 onwards or Sprite MK4.
Not intended for modified or non-standard suspension setups.
Front springs should be replaced in pairs to maintain even ride height and balanced suspension behaviour from side to side.
This specification differs from the later Sprite front coil spring, so chassis split must be checked before ordering.
Installation requires removal of the original front spring using suitable spring compression equipment and safe support of the suspension assembly.
This is a suitable job for an experienced enthusiast with the right tools and confidence working on suspension components. Professional installation is sensible where spring compression equipment is not available or where other front suspension wear is found during disassembly.
Using the correct early spring matters because the front suspension specification changes later in Sprite MK3 production. This spring gives the correct early specification with a 9.5" free length and 271lb spring rate, helping avoid incorrect ride height or mismatched suspension behaviour.
