This grease nipple is designed for lubrication of the original Austin Healey rear axle universal joint that uses a ¼” UNF threaded fitting. It allows correct greasing of the joint to reduce wear and maintain smooth drivetrain operation.
This product (RAX218) is ONLY compatible with the ORIGINAL universal joint that has a ¼” UNF thread.
It is NOT compatible for use with the RAX217 replacement universal joint. The later replacement joint uses a different grease nipple specification and thread type.
This grease nipple is intended for use only on original factory-style universal joints fitted to Austin Healey models. These joints are identifiable by their ¼” UNF grease nipple thread.
Many replacement universal joints, including RAX217, use a different grease nipple design and thread size. Care should be taken to confirm the joint type before ordering, as forcing an incorrect grease nipple can damage the joint body.
A grease nipple should be replaced if it is damaged, blocked, rounded off, or missing. A functioning nipple ensures grease can be correctly introduced into the joint during routine servicing, helping to extend component life and prevent premature wear.
