30% uprated front lever arm shock absorber for Austin Healey BN1 to BJ8 models. The uprated damping provides firmer front suspension control while retaining the standard lever arm suspension layout.
This new unit uses the later turret-top body design, so inner wheel arch clearance must be checked before fitting.
The 30% uprated damping specification provides firmer control of front suspension movement compared with the standard shock absorber. This can reduce body movement during cornering, braking and turn-in for a more controlled front end.
Ride firmness may increase compared with the standard damping version.
Suitable for Austin Healey BN1, BN2, BN4, BN6, BN7, BT7 and BJ8 models fitted with the standard front lever arm suspension.
BN1 to BJ8 models were originally fitted with flat-top front shock absorbers. Later BMC applications, including the MGB and MGC, used the turret-top body design found on this new replacement.
Important: The turret-top body may not clear the lower edge of the Healey inner wheel arch without modification. Check the available clearance before fitting and before removing any material.
The amount of clearance required varies between cars. The six-cylinder example shown in the fitting instructions is a guide only; BN1 and BN2 cars may require more or less material to be removed. Cars previously fitted with turret-top shock absorbers may already have the necessary clearance.

This 30% uprated version is intended for owners wanting firmer front suspension control while retaining the Healey lever arm suspension arrangement.
For standard damping, choose the new standard front shock absorber. To retain the original flat-top body profile, consider the reconditioned exchange flat-top front shock absorber.
